Jordon Payne Lauded by USCAA for 30 Point Effort

McKeesport, Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association named its weekly Players of the Week on Wednesday and Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) was named the USCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 28th, 2017. Payne has been an offensive powerhouse for PSUGA this season and continued that over the last week.

PSUGA played in just one game over the holiday break, but Payne was able to make the most of his opportunity scoring 30 points in a game against Division II Notre Dame College. The effort marked the third time in the last four games that Payne scored over 30 points in a contest and was the sixth straight game in which he scored over 20 points.

This is already Payne’s third award this season as he was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Player of the Week for each of the first two weeks of the season. Payne is having a spectacular Junior season as he is currently second in all of the PSUAC in 3-pt. Shooting Percentage (53.0%) and fourth in Points Per Game (23.8).

While he is having great offensive success to start the season, he is also quickly approaching the 1,000-point mark in his PSUGA career. With his 11-point effort against Penn State Beaver on Wednesday, Payne sits just 36 points away from collecting 1,000 in his PSUGA career in just his junior season.

The McKeesport native has been a big part of his team’s success this season and over the last two seasons as well. Payne has been the leading scorer for his team in all but one game this season with Wednesday’s game being the one exception. Payne looks to continue to work hard and do what he can for his team.

Jordon Payne and the rest of the PSUGA Men’s Basketball Team are back in action over the weekend when they travel to take on Penn State Schuylkill on Friday and Penn State Hazleton on Saturday.
