McKeesport, Pa. - Through 90 minutes, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's soccer team came out victorious over Westmoreland County Community College, Saturday afternoon, 2-1.
A little less than 20 minutes into the first half, sophomore forward Manoj Sharma (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) dribbled the ball from the right, hammering it into the lower left of the goal, 1-0 GA.
Just six minutes later, freshman midfielder Marin Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) cleaned up a rebound off of the keepers hands, boosting the tally to 2-0 over WCCC.
Halftime came and went with GA in the driver's seat. With 22 minutes left in the game, Westmoreland County CC managed to get on the board with a goal in the lower left of the net, 2-1 Greater Allegheny.
Regulation wound down as freshman goalkeeper Alex Wood (Rochville, Md./St. John's College) earned his first win on the season, stopping three shots on net. The GA offense ripped twelve shots, aiming nine on goal.
The Greater Allegheny Lions look onward to next Saturday, as Penn State York comes to Francis McClure Middle School. The Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up is set to begin at 1 p.m.
