2012-2013 Winter Sports Pep Rally

McKeesport, Pa- To kick off the 2012-2013 winter sports seasons, the Greater Allegheny Athletic Department hosted a pep rally last evening to build excitement for the upcoming seasons. 

  The event began with a faculty vs. students volleyball match, in which the students used a late comeback to defeat the faculty, 28-26.  Following the match, prizes were awarded to the winners of basketball shooting contests and t-shirts were given out to those in the stands. 

  Head wrestling coach Clay Karadus led with the team introductions, displaying his new squad in front of the raucous GA crowd.  Head women's basketball coach, Lou Zadecky, followed, with men's basketball coach, Clyde Manns, rounding out the introductions. 

  To end the evening, the men's and women's basketball teams competed in a 3-point shooutout, as well as a dunk contest on the men's side.  The women's team then gave the fans an on-court preview, playing a 10 minute, intersqaud scrimmage, with the men's 15 minute scrimmage completing the night's events. 

  Wrestling opens its season Saturday, November 3 with a 12 PM, home match against Slippery Rock.  Men's and women's basketball open their seasons the following Friday night, as Greater Allegheny hosts its first Tip-Off Classic.  Both the men and women take on Pitt-Titusville-  the women tip-off at 7 PM, the men at 9 PM.
