Baseball Stays Hot vs Wright State Lake Campus

Penn State Greater Allegheny put together a complete day on both sides of the ball, sweeping a doubleheader against Wright State–Lake Campus on March 31 at Pullman Park. The Lions took game one, 6-3, before edging out a tightly contested 6-5 victory in game two to improve their record on the season.

In the opener, Penn State Greater Allegheny wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the first inning behind timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. RBI hits from Brayden Patton, Julian Santiago, and Henry Dickmann sparked the early surge, giving the Lions a lead they would not relinquish.

Wright State–Lake Campus responded with a run in the second and added two more in the fourth, highlighted by a solo home run from Levi Rasberry, but the Lions' pitching held firm down the stretch. Malhar Shelke delivered a strong complete-game performance, allowing just four hits while striking out seven to earn the win.

Offensively, Penn State Greater Allegheny tallied nine hits, with multiple contributors throughout the lineup. Julian Santiago led the way with two RBIs, while Eric Valentin and Duston Strom each added key hits to maintain offensive pressure.

Game two proved to be more dramatic, as the Lions held off a late push to secure the sweep. Penn State Greater Allegheny again struck early, scoring three runs in the first inning behind an RBI double from Eric Valentin and a two-RBI single from Julian Santiago.

After Wright State–Lake Campus answered with a three-run home run from Levi Rasberry in the second to tie the game, the Lions responded with two runs in the third and added another in the fifth to regain control. Clutch RBIs from Santiago and Patton proved to be the difference.

The visitors made things interesting in the seventh inning, cutting the deficit to one on a two-run homer by Kyle Groneck, but Penn State Greater Allegheny pitcher Ethen Culbertson closed the door to secure the 6-5 win and complete the sweep.

Culbertson went the distance on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out five. Offensively, Damian Bosco and Eric Valentin each collected two hits, while Santiago and Patton combined for four RBIs in the nightcap.

With the sweep, Penn State Greater Allegheny showcased a balanced effort—timely hitting, strong starting pitching, and resilience in key moments—to secure two important victories at home.
